The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) is grounded in God’s promise in the Scriptures to comfort, accompany, and redeem. As Lutherans, we believe that God works through both law and gospel, calling us to serve our neighbors and providing mercy, hope, and joy through Jesus Christ in modern, often unsettling times.

We believe that all people are imperfect and are saved by God’s grace alone, through Christ.

We believe that through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, God became one of us and took upon himself the sin and suffering of the world.

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) practices open communion, meaning that anyone who is baptized is welcome to take communion, regardless of their religious affiliation. This practice reflects the ELCA's belief that Jesus is present in the elements of communion, and the only requirement is to trust the words "given and shed for you".

At Christ Lutheran we receive communion around the altar railing. An usher will dismiss you by rows to come forward. We use a gluten-free Matza cracker for the bread and either red wine or white grape juice in individual cups. Feel free to stay at the railing as long as you would like. When you are done, head back to your pew through the center aisle where there will be a basket for your cup.
The ELCA holds a strong belief in the sacrament of baptism, viewing it as a fundamental aspect of the Christian faith. They believe that baptism is the Church's entry rite, bringing individuals into the Church, Christ's living body on earth.

At CLC we believe that baptism can take place at any age, from young babies thru adulthood. If you would like more information about baptism, please speak with Interim Pastor Jaech or Vicar Lyndi.
